Temple Beth Am

We prefer to have a lively service with melodies, rather than one which mainly chanting or silent prayer. Friday evening services are conducted in a balanced mix of Hebrew and English. The prayerbook has transliteration for most of the Hebrew. The service often includes a discussion topic on the Torah or other timely subjects. Saturday morning services have more Hebrew with lots of participatory singing and an involved Torah Service. It is very important to us that services are meaningful to everyone.

Guests are always welcome at our services. Please check the grid below as Fri. eve. services start at either 6:00 PM or 8:00 PM and Sat. services begin at 10:00 AM @ Temple Beth Am, except 9:30AM on festivals, and either 9:00 AM or 9:30 AM when at joint off-site locations. Services are also held on all major holidays.

On the third Saturday morning of each month, the Temple hosts a havurah group made up of members of local synagogues as well as unaffiliated families. The more informal service, led by many of the paricipants, is followed by a pot-luck vegetarian lunch at a havurah member's home.

Our Shabbat service schedule is as follows:

* The second Shabbat of the month, members of Congregation Beth Hamedresh- Beth Israel (BHBI) join us on Friday night, and we go to their location, 1369 East Ave in the morning
** The fourth Friday of the month services are held at 6 pm in the Senior Adult Lounge at the Jewish Community Center along with members of Temple Beth David; on the fourth Saturday of the month, we join Temple Beth David for their service at 3200 St Paul Blvd in Irondequoit.
*** If a fifth Saturday occurs in a month, members of Congregation Beth Hamedresh- Beth Israel (BHBI) join us on Saturday morning.
